Ohrid, 19 October 2025 (MIA) – Incumbent Ohrid Mayor Kiril Pecakov declared victory in Sunday’s local elections, securing a second term as head of the local government.

Pecakov told journalists that according to VMRO-DPMNE’s data, he has recorded a historic win with a lead of over ten thousand votes ahead of SDSM’s candidate, who ranked second in the vote count.

The VMRO-DPMNE candidate added that the results for the municipal council mirror the mayoral outcome, with an approximate ratio of 3.4 to 1 in favor of VMRO-DPMNE over SDSM. However, the final number of council seats will be known after the official results are published.

“I would like to thank the citizens of Ohrid once again for the historic, I would say referendum-like support they gave me. The approach and pace of implemented projects over the past four years will now be elevated even further…,” Pecakov said.
