At least two people were killed in a missile attack on the capital, authorities reported. Mayor Vitali Klitschko also reported five injuries on Telegram.
The Russian army fired four ballistic missiles at the city, according to preliminary information from the Ukrainian Air Force,
Nationwide, there have been at least six deaths, President Volodymyr Zelensky wrote on the platform X.
"Another night proving that Russia does not feel enough pressure for dragging out the war," he said.
"Russian words about diplomacy mean nothing as long as the Russian leadership does not feel critical problems. And this can be ensured only through sanctions, long-range capabilities, and coordinated diplomacy among all our partners," he added.
In recent days, many parts of Ukraine have already been struggling with power outages. The country has been resisting a full-scale Russian invasion for more than three and a half years. Peace efforts are at a standstill.
Attacks on Zaporizhzhya and Kamianske
Authorities reported additional strikes in south-eastern Ukraine. Nine Russian combat drones hit the city of Zaporizhzhya, igniting several residential buildings, Governor Ivan Fedorov said on Telegram.
The industrial town of Kamianske was also targeted by Russian missiles and drones, the Ukrainian Air Force said. No damage or casualties were initially reported.
Power outages in Izmail
Earlier, several Russian combat drones also targeted the southern Ukrainian port city of Izmail near the Romanian border.
Ukraine's public broadcaster reported explosions and power outages in the city, though there was no official confirmation.
Due to ongoing Russian drone and missile attacks on energy infrastructure, the heating season for district heating systems in Ukrainian cities has already been postponed.
With temperatures already in the single digits and soon to drop further, many city residents can only heat their homes using air conditioning units and other electric heaters.
