Partnership on energy security and sustainability in region: North Macedonia and Kosovo sign cooperation memorandum

Skopje, 18 November 2024 (MIA) - The Governments of North Macedonia and Kosovo signed on Monday a Memorandum of Cooperation on promoting renewable energy sources and energy efficiency, exchange of expertise and information between public companies, development of infrastructure projects of common interest, and exploring opportunities for the exchange of electricity and resources.

The Memorandum highlights the importance of energy transition and the necessity of joint efforts in responding to global energy challenges, especially in the context of climate change and the energy crisis. It also lays the foundation for intensifying bilateral cooperation in the energy sector.

"With this Memorandum, we are strengthening not only our energy systems, but also our vision for a stable, sustainable and connected region. We are confident that this cooperation will bring significant benefits to both countries and will serve as an example of partnership in Southeast Europe," Energy Minister Sanja Bozhinovska said.

The Memorandum is a document ratified between the Ministry of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources and Kosovo's Ministry of Economy, and highlights the mutual interest of the two countries in developing a strategic partnership in energy through coordinated policies and activities that will contribute to economic growth, energy security and rational use of natural resources.

The Prime Ministers of the two countries, Hristijan Mickoski and Albin Kurti, were also present at the signing of the Memorandum as part of the joint government session in Pristina.
