Parliament’s next composition to decide how Kichevo-Ohrid motorway project should continue: SDSM leader
- The new composition of the Parliament will decide how it will continue the project – whether with the same contractor or by selecting a contractor that has shown it can construct a motorway. Skopje, 15 March 2024 (MIA) – The new composition of the Parliament will decide how it will continue the project – whether with the same contractor or by selecting a contractor that has shown it can construct a motorway. The completion of the motorway is a priority, because the citizens of the entire country deserve it, Ohrid, as the largest tourism center deserves it, SDSM leader Dimitar Kovachevski told reporters on Friday.
Kovachevski said there were 13 landslides in the last quarter of 2023 on finished sections of the motorway, noting that work should now be done to clean up the soil in order to draw up new plans.
“That’s why I think the Ministry of Transport and Communications did a good thing by having an expert carry out an analysis of everything that has been done so far. And since we are talking about an agreement adopted with a law, the agreement itself is a law in Parliament. So, the Parliament’s new composition will need to decide how it will continue the project – whether with the same contractor or by selecting a contractor that has shown it can construct a motorway,” said the SDSM leader.
The SDSM leader reiterated that the project will continue once the Parliament adopts a new decision.
