Skopje, 28 May 2024 (MIA) - At the constitutive session of the new Parliament on Tuesday, MPs adopted the report of the Verification Committee, thereby verifying the mandates of 118 members of Parliament. As a result, the mandates of the MPs from the previous parliamentary composition have officially ended.
The vote also means the new MPs who hold other posts are relinquishing the other posts. Six MPs who are members of the Government will also cease their function in the Government, since it will only carry out technical tasks until the election of a new Government.
The chair of the Verification Committee, Dafina Stojanovska, said the Committee verified the mandates of a total of 118 MPs following an assessment of the reports of the State Election Commission on the elections and the revote in electoral districts 5 and 6, as well as Bilall Kasami’s statement requesting that his mandate isn’t verified.
Talat Xhaferi, who holds the post of Prime Minister in the caretaker Government, said he wouldn’t participate in the work of Parliament until the election of the new Government since he is unable to hold both posts at the same time.
