Skopje, 2 November 2023 (MIA) - The Parliament's 129th session on Thursday includes among the items on the agenda the motion of no confidence against Chief Public Prosecutor Ljubomir Joveski, tabled by opposition MPs, as well as a proposal for a member of the State Election Commission (SEC). 

Opposition MPs who tabled the no-confidence motion include Afrim Gashi, Izet Mexhiti, Kastriot Rexhepi, Merita Koxhaxhiku, Safije Sadiki Shaini, Fadil Zendeli and Husni Ismaili. According to them, it is based on serious claims over facts and information being hidden by the Prosecutor's Office, charges brought against third parties instead of determining the main culprits, in order to protect certain politicians and members of the business elites, who had been involved in the construction of modular hospitals during the pandemic.

"If the public prosecutor does not prove the opposite, that no facts have been concealed and that there has been no influence on the procedure for political and personal purposes, then these major violations bear responsibility," reads the motion of no confidence.

A draft decision on a call for a member of the State Election Commission (SEC) is also on the agenda of Thursday's session. After the appointment of Krenar Lloga as Minister of Justice, a position in the SEC has become vacant, which should be filled by a representative from the opposition.

MPs will also discuss, among other, a draft decision on a call for electing a president and members of the Anti-Corruption Commission whose mandate expires in February.
