Skopje, 8 February 2024 (MIA) – Parliament is set to discuss the dismissal of Health Minister Fatmir Mexhiti and Minister of Information Society and Administration Azir Aliu on Friday, said the Office of the Speaker of Parliament in a press release.
“The materials from the Government have been received, the services are reviewing them, after which they will be delivered to all MPs. The proposal for the dismissal of the minister of health and the minister of information society and administration will be discussed at the next session of Parliament, i.e., tomorrow, Friday, February 9,” said the press release.
Earlier on Thursday, the Government said Caretaker Prime Minister Talat Xhaferi has submitted a note to the Speaker of Parliament, Jovan Mitreski, in which he proposed that Parliament dismiss Fatmir Mexhiti from the post of Minister of Health and Azir Aliu from the post of Minister of Information Society and Administration at its next session.
Xhaferi also submitted a note proposing that Parliament elect Ilir Demiri as the new Minister of Health, and Naim Bajrami as Minister of Information Society and Administration.
Earlier in the week, the Alliance for Albanians requested that its ministers, Mexhiti and Aliu, be dismissed from their posts and replaced with Demiri and Bajrami.
The request for the dismissal of Mexhiti and Aliu comes after the two voiced support for the leader of the Alliance of Albanians, Arben Taravari, who said the party would join the opposition coalition of ethnic Albanian parties at the next general elections, clashing with former party leader and AA assembly chairman Ziadin Sela, who believes the party should run independently at the May 8 elections.
