Skopje, 20 November 2023 (MIA) - The Parliament adopted on Monday the new Rules of Procedure, which is to take effect with the next parliamentary composition. The new Rules of Procedure for the work of the Parliament is a result of Jean Monnet Dialogue participants' work over many years.
The new parliamentary rulebook was adopted with 83 votes in favor and two votes against at the 131st session on Monday.
The SDSM-led ruling majority MPs, DUI MPs, VMRO-DPMNE MPs, Alliance for Albanians (AA) MPs and all other MPs voted in favor of the new Rules of Procedure. Only the two Levica MPs voted against.
Today's session was interrupted three times while the Levica MPs demanded that the session be adjourned and caused an incident in Parliament, scattering papers consisted of amendments to the Draft Rules of Procedure and damaging inventory at the Speaker's table including a computer, a phone, etc.
Levica MPs had submitted over 2,000 amendments, and the Parliament Speaker said only 12 were acceptable, while the others were unfounded.
Due to the damage caused by Monday's incident, Speaker Xhaferi said the 131st session will next resume in the Grand Dome of the Parliament, where other sessions will also be held until the damage is repaired.
