Parliament adopts law on financial support of vulnerable groups amid energy crisis
Skopje, 15 November 2022 (MIA) – The Parliament unanimously adopted Tuesday the draft-law on financial support of vulnerable groups for management of the energy crisis, proposed by the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy. The Ministry says the law aims to ensure financial support to the most vulnerable groups amid a state of energy crisis. Lawmakers from the ruling majority said over Mden 1 billion (EUR 16,2 million) are being allocated to eight groups, including beneficiaries of the right to social security of elderly, beneficiaries of specific allowances, beneficiaries of right to disability allowance etc. Opposition MPs said they would support the draft-law but noted it should also incorporate more groups of citizens, urging for reallocation of funds used for non-productive costs into the pool of anti-crisis measures.
