Osmani: We are continuing Mother Teresa’s testament for love, understanding, respect and tolerance

Skopje, 1 September 2023 (MIA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs Bujar Osmani, as part of his official visit to India, laid flowers at the grave of Mother Teresa in Kolkata, expressing deep respect and pride that “the most exceptional woman in the world – the saint of the whole world, comes precisely from our country.” He also visited the church in which Mother Teresa spent the majority of her life, which apart from being her home, was also the home of many helpless and underprivileged, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a press release.

“Witnessing how her life looked, the humbleness of such a large personality leaves no one indifferent and without feelings of responsibility to her legacy and mission – to aid the most vulnerable and to feed the poorest, but not only with bread, in her words, but also with love and respect,” said Osmani at a meeting with the Missionaries of Charity.

The Foreign Minister also highlighted her acts “overflowing with the history, culture and values that were deeply ingrained within her and which we must constantly remind ourselves of – respect and tolerance.”

“Based on her life, it is obvious that Mother Teresa possessed extreme flexibility and adaptability in terms of the different cultures and ethnic groups, traits which I am sure were deeply ingrained in her and in the way she was raised by her family in Skopje. This concept has surpassed and it continues to transcend the barriers of religion and ethnic belonging, and stresses the ideas of tolerance and harmony of all differences,” stressed Osmani.

Osmani is set to meet with the Mayor of Kolkata, Firhad Hakim, as well as with the President of the West Bengal Global Business Summit, Vandana Yadav.
