Osmani - Schallenberg: Austria consistently supports North Macedonia's European integration process
Skopje, 1 September 2022 (MIA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs Bujar Osmani during his working visit to Vienna on Thursday, held a bilateral meeting with the Federal Minister for European and International Affairs of the Republic of Austria, Alexander Schallenberg.
At the meeting, the participants voiced satisfaction with the development of bilateral relations between the two countries, as well as mutual commitment to further strengthening of friendly and strong ties with an emphasis on the economy as one of the pillars of the relations between the two countries, expressing hope that Austria will continue to be one of the most significant foreign investors in our country, the Foreign Ministry said.
Minister Osmani, expressing gratitude for the strong and consistent Austrian support for the European integration of the country, spoke about the latest internal political situation in North Macedonia, as well as about the upcoming activities that our country should undertake in light of the process of accession negotiations with the European Union.
Minister Schallenberg expressed his great satisfaction with the negotiations that have started and the engagement of North Macedonia to unblock the process, sending a message that his country remains a strong supporter of the membership of all Western Balkan countries in the European Union, said the press release.
During the meeting, opinions were also exchanged about the Russian invasion of Ukraine, mutually condemning the Russian military actions. In this context, Minister Osmani emphasized that North Macedonia remains a constructive partner of the EU in response to the crisis.
The promotion of multilateral cooperation, with special emphasis on North Macedonia's upcoming OSCE chairmanship in 2023 was also discussed at the meeting, stated the press release. dk/ba/
