Tetovo, 17 October 2021 (MIA) – DUI expects to win in three municipalities in the first round of Sunday’s local elections, Bujar Osmani, party spokesman, told the first news conference after polling stations closed at 7:30 pm. According to him, DUI is in huge lead in almost all municipalities where party candidates were running for mayors. Osmani said the first round was successfully organized calling the election campaign in general “a political success”. “The elections were completed successfully despite some technical challenges that were being fixed quickly so as not to hinder the voting process. Voter turnout exceeded 50%, which provides full legitimacy to the elected representatives to take office and fulfill the promises they made during the campaign,” the DUI spokesman stated. The elections, Osmani noted, confirmed the country is a politically mature democracy and it is no coincidence that North Macedonia is NATO member and a candidate to join the EU.
