Skopje, 10 June 2022 (MIA) — On the sidelines of the South-East European Cooperation Process summit in Thessaloniki, Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani met with his Slovenian counterpart Tanja Fajon, Serbian counterpart Nikola Selakovic, and Greek counterpart Nikos Dendias.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, FM Osmani thanked FM Fajon for Slovenia’s continuous support for North Macedonia’s strategic goals, especially during Slovenia's presidency of the EU Council.
The two top diplomats talked about the war in Ukraine, condemning Russia's military aggression. They also exchanged views on the consequences of the war on the economies and energy supply in Europe as well as the Ukrainian refugee crisis.
At the meeting with Serbia’s foreign minister, Osmani and Selakovic both expressed satisfaction with the recent Open Balkans Summit in Ohrid aimed at further facilitating the regional movement of people, goods, services and capital, especially related to employment, tourism and culture.
The two ministers welcomed the development of such initiatives as a way for regional progress on the road to EU integration. They also welcomed the improved ties between the two countries’ churches, which have recently overcome a long-standing rift.
As Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias announced on Twitter, he, too, had a brief meeting with Osmani, recalling his own recent visit to Skopje. mr/
