Osmani holds phone calls with Azerbaijan and Armenia FMs: Constructive dialogue for stabilization of Lachin Corridor

Skopje, 10 August 2023 (MIA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs and OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Bujar Osmani, due to the sensitivity of the situation with the Lachin Corridor and the need for urgent reaction, held separate phone calls Thursday with the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia, Jeyhun Bayramov and Ararat Mirzoyan, ahead of his visit to Astana as part of his Central Asia tour, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a press release.
Osmani, said the MFA, voiced concern over the situation with the Lachin Corridor and its impact on the civilian population, especially on vulnerable groups, women and children. He stated that he is carefully monitoring the situation and reiterated his appeal for a constructive and productive dialogue as an avenue for sustainable solutions, for the good of the local population.
“Chairperson Osmani said that the humanitarian aspects and the immediate needs of the people should prevail. Furthermore, he stressed the need to use the OSCE mechanisms and appropriate measures as part of the solutions for the normalization of relations and building trust between Armenia and Azerbaijan,” said the Ministry.
OSCE Chairperson Osmani reaffirmed his readiness to resume his personal, active engagement with all sides, and to that end, reiterated that North Macedonia is ready to offer a platform for dialogue.
