Osmani – Milkov: Provocations by individuals and groups should not jeopardize good neighborly relations
Skopje, 21 October 2022 (MIA) - The provocations of individuals and groups should not be allowed to jeopardize good neighborly relations, concluded the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of North Macedonia and Bulgaria, Bujar Osmani and Nikolay Milkov, at Friday's meeting held in the Germany’s capital on the sidelines of the Berlin Process ministerial meeting.
“At the meeting they also discussed the numerous provocations by groups and individuals in both countries, which in the past period have increasingly dominated in the public. They underlined that the two foreign ministries will actively work to strengthen good neighborly relations, as a mutual interest of both countries, and will not allow provocations to disrupt this process,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release.
They jointly concluded the continuation of the dialogue through meetings, as well as through the realization of specific projects, are the only way that will lead to a change of the context in which actions are taken and are a contribution to the development of close and friendly relations between the two countries and citizens.
The focus of their first meeting, following the appointment of Minister Milkov to the post in August, was the fulfillment of joint obligations arising from Treaty of Friendship, Good Neighborliness and Cooperation, as well as the achieved cooperation within the process of improving relations between the two countries.
Osmani briefed Milkov on accomplished obligations thus far on our part in order to implement the provisions of the treaty. He highlighted the engagement of the inter-sectoral working group for political coordination in the implementation of the measures from the protocol of the second meeting, which is coordinated by the Foreign Minister, as well as the first meetings of the thematic subgroups.
They also discussed regional cooperation in the context of the European perspective of the countries of the Western Balkans, as the best guarantee in facing the political, security and economic challenges to their development, the MFA said.
