Skopje, 25 May 2023 (MIA) – The implementation of reforms, rule of law, media freedom, human rights – including the rights of national minorities, are the main areas in which OSCE will continue to provide its support to Serbia, said Minister of Foreign Affairs and OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Bujar Osmani at Thursday’s meeting with Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabić in Belgrade.
“The OSCE Mission to Serbia will continue to support the country over further integration of national minorities in Serbian society through direct support for the implementation of the Action Plan for the realization of the rights of national minorities,” stressed Osmani.
In a press release, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Osmani and Brnabić touched upon the essential support of the OSCE Mission to Serbia and the implementation of the Census, the elections of the national minority councils, as well as the solving of issues related to the Council of the Albanian national minority.
Osmani and Brnabić also spoke about current local and regional developments, as well as the need for a broad consensus between the OSCE participating countries for an exit to the situation in which the Organization finds itself.
“Despite all the challenges, I am glad to see the excellent cooperation between the OSCE Mission to Serbia and the national authorities. I hope you will continue to make good use of OSCE’s capacities,” said Osmani.
One more area in which OSCE will continue to lend its support to Serbia, said Osmani, is media reform – the Media Strategy 2020-2025 and the related Action Plan.
