Oslo-Skopje seasonal flight to operate twice a week

Skopje, 23 June 2023 (MIA) - The first flight of Norwegian airline’s new seasonal air route connecting Oslo and Skopje landed at the Skopje International Airport on Friday. The airline will service the route with two flights per week, every Monday and Friday, with a Boeing 737 aircraft.

TAV Macedonia’s General Manager Nejat Kurt said the air route will initially operate seasonally, with the hopes it will eventually grow into a regular air route.

“As we witnessed, upon arrival the aircraft was almost full. As TAV, we are grateful, happy and excited over this occasion because it represents the continued growth and development of the Skopje Airport,” said Kurt.

Minister of Transport and Communications, Blagoj Bochvarski, said that apart from the route to Oslo, several other routes were established this month to the Ohrid Airport as well, leading to the growth of tourism and the country’s economy.

“This year we are on track to achieve a record level of air traffic at our two airports, where just in the January-June period we have recorded an increase of 44 percent compared to last year, which proves our commitment and persistence in enabling better conditions for air traffic in our country,” said Bochvarski.

According to the Minister, the three-year program for the establishment of new air routes is producing the desired results.

“Quality services for our citizens, new destinations, more tourists and full use of the capacities of our two airports remain our top priorities,” said Bochvarski.
