Number of tourists up by 14.9 percent in Q1: statistics

Skopje, 12 May 2023 (MIA) – The number of tourists in March in North Macedonia was 47.490, 32.5 percent of which were domestic and 67.5 percent were foreign tourists, said the State Statistical Office.
The number of nights spent in March 2023 was 94.985, 36.4 percent of which were realized by domestic tourists and 63.6 percent were realized by foreign tourists.
In the January – March 2023 period, the number of tourists increased by 14.9 percent compared to the same period last year. During this period, the number of domestic tourists dropped by 7.4 percent, while the number of foreign tourists grew by 35.1 percent.
In the first quarter of 2023, compared to 2022, the number of nights spent increased by 6.3 percent, the number of nights spent by domestic tourists decreased by 6.8 percent, while those by foreign tourists increased by 18.9 percent.
