NSDP’s Petkovski advises against early parliamentary elections
Skopje, 1 November 2021 (MIA) – The country shouldn’t hold fresh early parliamentary elections, the incumbent government should remain in power to do its job, NSDP leader Tito Petkovski said Monday before meeting with government junior coalition partners following PM Zoran Zaev’s resignation on Sunday. We, said Petkovski, have to differentiate between local and parliamentary polls if we want a democratic country. “You cannot repeat all elections if you lose only one,” the NSDP leader told reporters outside the government. He said he expected the government coalition partners to agree the next steps as “the Constitution clearly regulates what happens next after a prime minister resigns.” “A legitimacy to form a government is secured in parliamentary elections, Petkovski said recalling that the country held parliamentary elections last year. NSDP, he noted, remains to be part of the parliamentary majority.
