North Macedonia, Serbia, Albania connect toll systems
Skopje, 8 June 2022 (MIA) – The companies from North Macedonia, Serbia and Albania that manage tolls work on connecting the systems with a tag for electronic payment, Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski announced at Wednesday’s press conference at the Open Balkan Summit in Ohrid. “This is how we’ll reduce traffic at highways and tolls and the citizens will reach their destinations faster. These are the benefits brought by all the institutions and public enterprises in the three countries,” Kovachevski added. Speaking about the benefits of cooperation, he said preparations are already underway for the wine, food and tourism fair in Belgrade in September, where a significant volume of Macedonian products will be showcased to bring them closer to the region and the world. Open Balkan leaders also agreed that together they will tackle the economic crisis and the lack of food and energy. “Open Balkan has concrete results and that is why the countries in the region must become members of the European Union. Today here in Ohrid we are opening new chapters of cooperation in the area of tourism and culture. Very soon our citizens from the Open Balkan will feel economic and other benefits. This can be a good vacation in Sarandë, Ohrid, or Kopaonik. With beneficial conditions and prices,” PM Kovachevski added. He stressed that he sees the Summit as a positive overturn because for the first time Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the whole international community are in the same place with mutual understanding of the future of Western Balkans.
