North Macedonia, Bulgaria delegations to lay flowers at Goce Delchev's grave on his 150th birth anniversary
Skopje, 3 February 2022 (MIA) — To mark the 150th anniversary of Goce Delchev's birth, a delegation of the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia led by Minister of Culture Bisera Kostadinovska Stojchevska and Deputy Foreign Minister Fatmire Isaki will lay flowers at his grave together with delegations from the Republic of Bulgaria. “The Government of North Macedonia welcomes the participation of the Bulgarian delegations in celebrating the 150th anniversary of the birth of, for us, the most important historical figure for our country, thereby continuing the two countries' efforts to strengthen and deepen overall cooperation and trust,” an official press release said. Earlier, a press release from the Bulgarian government said the Prime Minister of Bulgaria Kiril Petkov would lay a wreath at the Goce Delchev memorial in Sofia to mark the 150th anniversary of his birth. According to MIA’s Sofia correspondent, PM Petkov will be joined by the acting Ambassador of North Macedonia to Bulgaria Vladimir Krstevski. In Skopje, several delegations will pay tribute to Delchev, including First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Political System and Inter-Community Relations Artan Grubi; Minister of Transport and Communications Blagoj Bochvarski; and Deputy Minister of Information Society and Administration Aleksandar Bajdevski. They will lay flowers at the grave of Goce Delchev in the church of Sveti Spas. In addition to Culture Minister Kostadinovska Stojchevska, Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy Trajan Dimkovski and the Prime Minister’s aide Edmond Ademi will lay flowers at the Goce Delchev memorial in the City Park and at the Goce Delchev memorial on Macedonia Square. At noon, Minister of Interior Oliver Spasovski will attend the opening of an exhibition marking Delchev’s 150th birth anniversary in the Museum of the Macedonian Struggle, organized by the State Archives under the auspices of the President of the Republic of North Macedonia. mr/
