North Macedonia and Serbia sign Memorandum of Cooperation in gas sector
- The Ministry of Energy, Mining and Minerals and the Serbian Ministry of Mining and Energy agreed Monday a Memorandum of Cooperation in the gas sector which foresees an assessment of the opportunity to develop a new direct connection between the two gas systems; the drafting of a feasibility study and a study of the impact on the environment and society of the project for the new gas interconnection between the two countries.

Skopje, 7 October 2024 (MIA) - The Ministry of Energy, Mining and Minerals and the Serbian Ministry of Mining and Energy agreed Monday a Memorandum of Cooperation in the gas sector which foresees an assessment of the opportunity to develop a new direct connection between the two gas systems; the drafting of a feasibility study and a study of the impact on the environment and society of the project for the new gas interconnection between the two countries.
“On the basis of the results of technical and market research and considering the existing gas transportation infrastructure of both parties, the parties will carry out an analysis and adopt appropriate decisions for the realization of the project and coordination of further activities,” the Memorandum states.
The North Macedonia – Serbia gas interconnector is marked as a leading project for the EUSAIR (EU Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian Region) energy networks, the Ministry of Energy said.
