No room for panic over Covid-19, Stevanovikj tells MIA

Skopje, 18 September 2023 (MIA) – There is no room for panic when it comes to Covid-19, the virus will remain present like the flu, the head of the University Clinic for Infectious Diseases and Febrile Conditions, Milena Stevanovikj, told MIA on Monday.

“Currently we have six hospitalized patients, they were accepted in the past few days. They are older, over 70, and they all have serious comorbidities and diseases. Two of them are in a very serious condition,” said Stevanovikj adding that the number of infections will probably rise due to the fact that people are returning from different parts of the world.

According to the data of the Public Health Institute, 112 cases of Covid-19 were registered in August in North Macedonia.

“Compared to the previous month, July, the number of Covid-19 cases has increased 4.6 times. While compared to August 2022, there is a significant drop in the number of infections. Most of the infections in August 2023 were in Skopje, while the highest incidence was noted in Kavadarci,” said the Public Health Institute.
