No early elections, constitutional amendments to be adopted, Kovachevski says

Skopje, 11 May 2023 (MIA) - No early parliamentary elections will be held, Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski said, adding that he is confident that constitutional amendments will be adopted by November.

In an interview with Kanal 5 TV, Kovachevski once again said that all political parties should support the country's membership in the EU.

“I always believe that a strategic goal is achievable. The constitutional amendments will be submitted before the summer. A working group has been formed in the Ministry of Justice, where representatives of political parties and experts from the academy and constitutional law have already started working and preparing the proposed amendments, which will then be forwarded to a public debate with the chambers of commerce,..., and then and in the parliamentary procedure before the political parties. There will be no early elections. First, presidential elections will be held in the second half of March, and then, in the second half of June, there will be the parliamentary elections as well. Mickoski had an offer to vote on the constitutional amendments and then to hold elections,” Kovachevski noted.

Kovachevski also referred to the economic sphere in the interview. He said that the government raised the minimum and average wages, announced pensions increase, reminded that the country currently has the most foreign investments and that a domestic power exchange was launched for the first time in the country.
