No constitutional changes in this Parliament, says VMRO-DPMNE leader

Skopje, 9 April 2023 (MIA) - My position remains unchanged. There will be no constitutional changes in this Parliament, said VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski on Sunday.

Mickoski told reporters that a Macedonian constitutional model, as dubbed by Government officials, can only be the one that enjoys Macedonian national consensus, "the consensus that is missing for this one".

"Consensus was required when Macedonia was sold out. They missed that moment. Now I am offering a modified Macedonian model, same as the Croatian model - an EU member-state," said Mickoski.

He reiterated there is pressure but it is "countered by arguments".

"My approach is to counter that pressure by arguments and I will continue to do this. I have still not heard an argument that beats mine, which contain elementary logic and are known to the public. Let me repeat, there will no constitutional changes in this Parliament. While aware of the political price we could pay, we presented a proposal. Their proposal was the Croatian model of the constitution's preamble. We said ok, we accept. My position remains unchanged, constitutional changes will not happen," added Mickoski.
