Nikolovski: Sufficient food quantities for citizens of Open Balkan member-states
Skopje, 2 September 2022 (MIA) – We must ensure food supplies because a difficult winter is ahead. From now on, there will be no bans for export of agriculture products among Albania, Serbia and North Macedonia, says Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy Ljupcho Nikolovski regarding the benefits of the Agreement on Food Security that the three countries signed within the “Wine Vision by Open Balkan” fair in Belgrade on Friday. Minister Nikolovski told Sitel TV that the agreement is a guarantee there will be sufficient food for the citizens of the three countries. “What we don’t have will be provided by Serbia and Albania,, what they do not have will be provided by us. The agreement guarantees the provision of sufficient quantities of strategic crops – wheat, corn, barley – then milk, meat, rice, sunflower oil, for all people, Food quantities will be sufficient, there will be enough products and citizens of the three countries should not be concerned,” says Nikolovski. According to the agreement, a commission is set up that will make sure the products are secured and stored, whereas customs duties and documentation are eliminated. “Fast tracks are already operational, laboratory analyses are recognized in all countries, meaning that products will not rot at the borders but swiftly reach the market shelves in Open Balkan countries,” adds Nikolovski.
