Belgrade, 24 May 2023 (MIA) - Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy Ljupcho Nikolovski says North Macedonia and other regional countries have seen an increasing impact of climate change on agriculture, MIA reports from Belgrade.
Ahead of regional agri-business conference "Grow Up-Snaga Zemlje" in Kopaonik, at which ministers will discuss networking as opportunity for development and global problems related to climate change, Minister Nikolovski told Blic Biznis that the area has witnessed frequent and extreme weather phenomena, such as floods and storms.
"North Macedonia and other countries of Southeast Europe, have seen an increasing impact of climate change on the society as a whole, but also the operations of many key sectors, especially agriculture. We are aware that natural disasters are unavoidable but building a global system of timely and accurate forecasting of weather and climate extreme phenomena can help us better prepare and mitigate the harmful effects of disasters," says Nikolovski.
"Grow Up-Snaga Zemjle", set to take place on May 31-June 1, will bring together regional experts, companies, farm owners, government officials, institutions and professors.
