Skopje, 8 February 2023 (MIA) – Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy, Ljupcho Nikolovski, said Wednesday that he cannot comment on the prices of basic food products, but he said he expects them to drop, in line with the electricity assistance that the companies from the food industry have received.  

“I cannot comment on the prices, but I expect that they will drop after the overall electricity assistance that the companies from the industry have been given. As citizens, we are all expecting to see the prices drop. The food industry was granted additional privileges in terms of electricity price and I expect that this will be reflected in the prices of the basic food products in the markets,” Nikolovski said in response to reporters' questions ahead of a meeting with small food producers, members of “Alliance Premium”.

According to the Minister, “the relevant institutions and inspectorates should do their job and carry out the appropriate controls.”

“The citizens expect cheaper products due to the increased support during a crisis, especially when it comes to basic food products,” stressed the Minister. ad/nn/
