Skopje, 23 November 2023 (MIA) — Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy Ljupcho Nikolovski met Thursday with Halkbank CEO Bilal Sucubaşı to welcome the company's donation of one million tree saplings for the national afforestation program.

According to an official press release, Minister Nikolovski said the number of socially responsible companies and citizens' associations that were joining in the tree planting drive nationwide was increasing.

Welcoming Halkbank's initiative for donating the tree saplings, the agriculture minister said it would enrich the national forest fund over the next five years, during which a total of 1,000,000 tree saplings would be planted across the country. 

This year, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy launched the "Let's Reforest Together" national tree planting drive. Some 1,200,000 saplings will be planted at 36 different locations in 19 regions of the country.

At the meeting, Nikolovski stressed that the green transition was one of the top five priorities of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy.

"Let's leave a clean, green and European country to our future generations," he is quoted as saying in the release. mr/
