Prilep, 11 October 2025 (MIA) — Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Aleksandar Nikoloski led a government delegation that laid flowers at the Metodija Andonov Chento memorial, Kuzman Josifovski Pitu memorial, the Woman Warrior memorial and the Mound of the Unbeaten in Prilep.

"This day should also remind us why we celebrate it," Deputy PM Nikoloski said at the flower-laying ceremony. 

"We must not forget why the uprising happened, whom it was against and against whose ideology," he said.

"It is clear that Macedonia was under occupation, not under administration," he said, adding that the uprising was not "an ideological fight between leftists and rightists or between communists and royalists, but a clear national fight of the Macedonian people for national liberation." 

"It is not a coincidence that the partisan detachments were named after Ilinden rebels and the top figures of the VMRO," Nikoloski said. mr/
