Nikoloski meets Dimas and Kyranakis, discusses railway lines and cooperation in aviation sector

Skopje, 24 September 2025 (MIA) - The construction of a high-speed railway on Corridor X, green corridors at border crossings, regional cooperation, more efficient transport of goods and passengers, are some of the topics raised by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, Aleksandar Nikoloski, at Wednesday's separate meetings in Athens with Greece's Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Christos Dimas, and the Alternate Minister of Infrastructure and MP Konstantinos Kyranakis.

Within the framework of mutual cooperation, the promotion of road and rail transport are areas where the two countries have a common interest in terms of regional development, participants in the meetings agreed.  

Nikoloski highlighted the Government's priority projects in the infrastructure sector, with a special focus on the high-speed railway on Corridor X, a project that is to provide a strong input in the region's economic development.

Talks tackled among other the modernization of border crossings by creating green lanes to enable faster and more efficient transport. Interlocutors expressed satisfaction with the decision of the two countries to build the "Markova Noga" border crossing as a prerequisite for increasing cross-border cooperation and better communication of citizens, the Ministry of Transport said in a press release.

Interlocutors also discussed the possibility of establishing railway lines between the two countries, as well as increasing cooperation in the aviation sector by introducing new airlines.

Participants in the meetings highlighted regional cooperation and the possibility of increasing economic and trade cooperation through the implementation of joint projects.

Earlier on Wednesday, Deputy Prime Minister Nikoloski held a working meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of Greece, Kostis Hatzidakis

Nikoloski and Hatzidakis concluded that cooperation and implementation of projects of regional importance will continue in the coming period towards increasing the efficiency of transport and cross-border cooperation.

The meetings are part of Deputy Prime Minister Nikoloski's two-day working visit to Greece.
