Nikoloski, Hricová discuss new flight, expected to boost business and tourist ties
- Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister Aleksandar Nikoloski and Slovakia’s Ambassador Iveta Hricová met Friday to discuss the introduction of a new Ohrid-Bratislava flight and ways for improving Macedonian-Slovak economic and trade ties.
Skopje, 16 January 2026 (MIA) – Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister Aleksandar Nikoloski and Slovakia’s Ambassador Iveta Hricová met Friday to discuss the introduction of a new Ohrid-Bratislava flight and ways for improving Macedonian-Slovak economic and trade ties.
The Ohrid-Bratislava flight, to be inaugurated in March by the airline company WizzAir, will contribute to improving the connectivity between the two countries aimed at boosting tourism and businesses, the two interlocutors confirmed, the Transport Ministry said.

The government is committed to developing air transport and the introduction of this flight will improve the countries’ economic ties, said Deputy PM Nikoloski.
“The good bilateral relations between Macedonia and Slovakia were reaffirmed in the meeting in which strengthening of trade cooperation, political relations and stimulating the business climate were discussed. Deputy Prime Minister Nikoloski emphasized that the country is in a strong investment cycle in the implementation of capital projects that have a regional dimension and make a huge contribution to the development of regional cooperation through the modernization of transport infrastructure,” said the press release.
Nikoloski also congratulated the ambassador on her appointment, expressing gratitude for the cooperation so far and emphasizing the need to intensify the cooperation in areas of common interest for both countries, it added.
