Nikoloski: Gov’t is strongly committed to sports, investing nationwide

Skopje, 10 September 2025 (MIA) – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications, Aleksandar Nikoloski, announced Wednesday at the Regional Sport Summit Skopje 2025 even greater investments in sports infrastructure across the country as well as legal changes to provide financial incentives for investing in sports.

“The government is strongly committed to the development of sports. Our role is to support infrastructure growth and provide opportunities for all who wish to engage in sports. We have launched an ambitious program supporting local governments, with substantial resources dedicated to sports. Through the Ministry of Sport, investments are made extensively, ensuring sports infrastructure reaches nearly every location, thus enabling youth participation in sports. Moreover, several legislative amendments are underway that will provide financial incentives and the possibility for significant investments in sports. I believe that this synergy between infrastructure investments and opportunities to invest in sports will yield results. As a government, we are always here to help and provide support, and our involvement stops there because we want to keep politics out of sports,” Nikoloski said in his address.

Skopje is hosting on Wednesday the first Regional Sport Summit under the motto “Sport as a symbol of national identity and a path to the future.”

Participants include, among others, the Ministers of Sports of Serbia, Zoran Gajić, Montenegro, Dragoslav Šćekić, and the host, Macedonia’s Minister of Sport, Borko Ristovski.
