New SDSM leader Kovachevski takes office
Skopje, 15 December 2021 (MIA) – Outgoing SDSM leader Zoran Zaev handed over Wednesday the position of president of the Social Democrats to the newly-elected leader Dimitar Kovachevski at SDSM’s main offices in Skopje.
Congratulating Kovachevski on winning the party elections, Zaev wished him successful term, the ruling party said in a press release.
Taking office, Kovachevski thanked Zaev for his contribution to leading the party and also the government.
Today, he said, the country is a member of NATO and is about to start negotiating with the EU due to Zaev’s wise decisions made for the country.
Dimitar Kovachevski was elected SDSM leader in the extraordinary and direct party elections on December 12.
Zaev, who was the leader of SDSM since 2013, announced he will step down both as party leader and prime minister following his party’s poor performance in the October local elections.
