Skopje, 11 December 2023 (MIA) - With the help of the latest and most sophisticated equipment for genetic testing, research results will be ready in one day, which significantly increases the quality of work of the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts (MANU). This was highlighted at Monday's presentation of new equipment for genetic testing at MANU, and the implementation of a project on improving the capacities of the National Center for Genomics and Proteomics.

Minister of Health, Fatmir Mexhiti, said that MANU and the Ministry have close cooperation in many significant areas of medicine.  

"The possibility to diagnose hereditary or malignant and rare diseases with the help of genome sequencing at MANU's laboratory is of great importance for our patients. MANU has regularly cooperated with the Ministry of Health, our healthcare institutions and invested itself in scientific research during the Covid-19 crisis," Mexhiti stressed.

The Academy, he added, contributes and helps in early detection of diseases, which helps doctors provide timely treatment methods. ssh/nn/
