New generation of police officers promoted

Skopje, 27 April 2024 (MIA) – The ceremony to mark the promotion of new police officers of the 2023-2024 generation took place Saturday at the Idrizovo Police Training Center. The one-year training was completed by 508 new police officers, including 416 men and 92 women.

Caretaker Prime Minister Talat Xhaferi, extending congratulations to the new police officers, highlighted that being at the forefront of security is both noble and highly responsible.

“The knowledge and skills you have acquired through intensive training over the past year, I believe that as future police officers, you will apply them diligently in the organizational units where you will be deployed,” Xhaferi said.

He encouraged the police officers to be honest and dedicated in carrying out their duties towards the citizens, to take pride in their work, and to professionally handle the new challenges of their jobs, being prepared for the expected responses. He pointed out that this department works solely in the service of the citizens, and in no other way, and for the police officer, every citizen is equally important, regardless of personal identities, beliefs, or any other differences.

“For the professional police officer, there is no less or more important task. All citizens are equal before the law and have an equal right to security. As future police officers, I expect you to demonstrate through your own behavior and effort that the police, as an institution, is professional and successfully fulfills its legal responsibilities and tasks,” Xhaferi added.

Interior Minister Panche Toshkovski emphasized that police officers are entering a new phase.

“First and foremost, I would like to remind you each time to remember that each one of you is the creator of your own happiness. Your success depends solely on you. Your success should only result from your professionalism, cooperativeness, and goodwill,” Toshkovski said.

He noted that the law must be respected, as well as that every positive change begins with the individual, with their world-view, behavior, and actions, and not the other way around.

“As young individuals, with the future ahead of you, you have the right, opportunity, responsibility, and certainly the obligation, each in your own domain of abilities and interests, to contribute to a better and more prosperous collective future,” Toshkovski said.

Additional Deputy Interior Minister Mitko Bojmacaliev congratulated them on the successful completion of the training for police officers, reminding them of all that has been previously achieved in the police force, including the reconstruction of the Idrizovo Police Training Center.

Moreover, the names of the best police officers were unveiled during the ceremony.
