New call for subsidizing more flights from Skopje, Ohrid in 2025-2027

Skopje, 7 September 2024 (MIA) — The government has issued a new call for financial support of new flights from Skopje International Airport and St. Paul the Apostle Airport in Ohrid for 2025-2027.
The subsidies will be awarded by flight destination and not by airline, as before.
The state will pay EUR 9 in domestic currency per passenger travelling from Skopje International Airport and EUR 12 euros in domestic currency per passenger travelling from St. Paul the Apostle Airport in Ohrid.
The air carrier that will be chosen needs to have at least two flights a week to and from the airports in Skopje and Ohrid, promote the flight destinations as well as submit reports to the Ministry of Transport twice a year.
The three-year subsidy program will be funded with Mden 360 million from the national budget.
The deadline for applications is Oct. 7. Eligible to apply are all interested airlines that have air carrier certificates to show they meet safety and operational standards for public air transportation, have transported at least 5 million passengers in 2023, and have made a profit of at least EUR 10 million in 2023. mr/
