Skopje, 11 March 2023 (MIA) - The evil of 11 March 1943, when Macedonian Jews were deported to Treblinka death camp in occupied Poland, must never repeat, says Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski on the event's 80th anniversary.
"The perished lives of 7,144 Jewish children, women and men of our country, part of over six million Jews who were killed in Nazi camps across the globe, will always serve as an alarm to mankind. We must never allow for any form of intolerance, antisemitism and fascism," PM Kovachevski wrote in a Facebook post.
Nowadays, he adds, when the world is facing a modern form of aggression, exclusion, hate speech, stimulated by national, ethnic and religious diversities, and unjust imposition of our people and state over another, we are all called to be loud in the condemnation of these undemocratic practices in the 21st century.
"North Macedonia has always been on the right side of history and by building a One Society for All it continues to be a successful model for maintenance and promotion of equality, peace and stability in Europe and the world," says Kovachevski.
