Kavadarci, 20 October 2023 (MIA) — Negotino pensioners blocked the Negotino exit toward Gevgelija on Friday morning demanding 5,000 denar pension increases and higher minimum pensions, MIA's Kavadarci correspondent reports.

Protesters demand that the national minimum pension be 20,000 denars.

"We have to persist and stand by our decisions. We cannot give up," pensioner Kata Apostolova said.

Initiative Board for Demanding Greater Rights for Pensioners chairman Metodi Petrov urged pensioners to come out en masse for more street protests demanding to correct the injustice done to pensioners.

Police officers sealed off the site of the Friday protest, rerouting car traffic onto local roads and allowing only emergency response vehicles to pass through. mr/
