Skopje, 31 July 2021 (MIA) — The first new daycare center in Negotino in 39 years, Temjanushka Preschool was opened on Saturday in the presence of Prime Minister Zoran Zaev. He said the “most beautiful preschool in the country” was one of the 15 new daycare centers built across the country over the past 11 months, highlighting the government’s priority of caring for the nation’s youngest citizens.
According to PM Zaev, the daycare center will accommodate 169 children from nine months to 6 years old. Following energy efficiency standards, the preschool will also use renewable energy sources through a system of solar collectors.
“For us as an inclusive society,” Zaev said, “it is also especially important that the staff have been trained to offer support to children from vulnerable families as well as to children with special needs who will learn new skills together with other children as well as socialize.”
Minister of Labor and Social Policy Jagoda Shahpaska said the 15 newly built daycare centers over the past 11 months have opened their doors to 1,150 preschoolers.
"At the same time, we have provided new jobs for preschool teachers and staff as well as training courses in cooperation with UNICEF and the World Bank to build the professional capacity of educators and carers who will work with the children," Shahpaska said.
The construction of the daycare center began in 2020. It has nine preschool classrooms, a kitchen and a cafeteria, and administrative offices.
Building the new preschool was part of a project for improving the country’s social services implemented by the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy with funding from the World Bank. mr/
