NCEU-MK session on agriculture and rural development

Skopje, 5 March 2024 (MIA) - The National Convention on the European Union in the Republic of North Macedonia (NCEU-MK) is set to hold on Tuesday the 11th session of the Working Group 1 (Chapter 11) - Agriculture and Rural Development, discussing about Transfer of knowledge and innovation: Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation Systems (AKIS). 

 

NCEU-MK national coordinator and President of the European Movement in the Republic of North Macedonia, professor Mileva Gjurovska, and Slovak Ambassador to North Macedonia, Henrik Markus, will deliver opening remarks.  

 

"Experts Goce Georgievski, head of the sector for rural development in the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy, Donald Aquilina and Dimitar Vanev from the EU-funded project "Modernization of advisory services for operators in the area of agriculture in North Macedonia", Ana Simonovska, professor at the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Food, Institute of Agricultural Economics at the University "Ss. Cyril and Methodius" - Skopje and Biljana Petrovska-Mitrevska from the National Federation of Farmers will participate in a panel discussion as part of the working session," said the European Movement in the Republic of North Macedonia. 

 

The experts will elaborate on questions related to development trends, the way of functioning and the benefits of the Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation System in the European Union, known as the AKIS, and are expected to define the key issues about the implementation paths of this important mechanism of the European Common Agricultural policy.

 

The NCEU-MK is a platform for open and transparent dialogue on issues related to the European Union accession negotiations. 

 

The project is implemented by the European Movement in the Republic of North Macedonia, and is financially supported by the Delegation of the European Union in the Republic of North Macedonia as well as SlovakAid.
