Varazdin, 19 January 2025 (MIA) - The Macedonian men's handball team beat Guinea 29:20 in the final match of Group D at the World Championships in Varazdin on Sunday and advanced to the main round.

Filip Kuzmanovski was the team's leading scorer with 12 goals, followed by Nenad Kosteski with four, and Igor Gjorgiev and Pavle Atanasijevikj with three each.

In the group's other match, Hungary beat Netherlands 36:32 and topped the standings, ahead of Netherlands and North Macedonia.

In the tournament's main round, they will face Austria, Qatar and France, with the top two teams advancing to the quarterfinals.

North Macedonia is set to play its first match against Austria at 3.30 pm on Tuesday.
