Skopje, 9 March 2023 (MIA) - Power Plants of North Macedonia (ESM) and thermal plant Negotino capacities produced 504,338 MWh of electricity in February, which represents an 80-percent increase when compared to the same month in 2022, said the PM's energy advisor Viktor Andonov on Thursday.

Andonov told a press conference that as the heating season is coming to an end, domestic electricity production has incrased and is stable.

"We are finishing this period with a functional energy system that fully meets the needs of citizens and domestic consumers," said Andonov.

Total electricity production in the first two months of 2023 stands at 1,065,689 MWh, a 50-ercent increase compared to the same period last year.

"Rising national electricity production is crucial in mitigating the effects of the energy crisis, as well as in creating measures to support citizens and businesses," noted Andonov.
