National Bank Governor Slaveski meets IMF officials

Skopje, 19 June 2025 (MIA) - The National Bank, as a professional, independent and credible institution, significantly contributes with its activities to preserving macroeconomic and financial stability in the country, said a meeting of National Bank Governor Trajko Slaveski with International Monetary Fund (IMF) Regional Resident Representative, Sebastián Sosa, and the new IMF Mission Chief for the country, Nick Gigineishvili.

The IMF officials expressed satisfaction with the proactivity so far in conducting monetary policy and the ongoing improvement of the regulatory and supervisory framework, the central bank said in a press release. 

The meeting is a continuation of long-standing and constructive cooperation, in the interest of maintaining a stable and resilient economic system.

Governor Slaveski highlighted the National Bank's commitment to maintaining stability, as well as to further promoting the independence, transparency and credibility of the institution. He pointed out that the National Bank will continue to be cautious and proactive in conducting monetary policy, constantly monitoring and analysing both internal and external risks.

Participants in the meeting exchanged views on the current economic and financial situation, with a focus on global economic developments and their possible effects on the domestic economy. 

Interlocutors reaffirmed readiness for further strong cooperation and coordination, in order to timely address potential challenges and foster stable development. In addition, the interlocutors agreed that addressing the challenges of the global economic scene requires consistent, responsible and coordinated policies, with the ongoing support and expertise of international partners, such as the IMF, being of paramount importance, reads the press release.
