Skopje, 30 July 2021 (MIA) – President Stevo Pendarovski has said he doesn’t expect in the near future major changes regarding the dispute with Bulgaria since the country at the moment doesn’t have an interlocutor there as Sofia is yet to form a government. Third parliamentary elections in Bulgaria hasn’t been ruled out, it was noted at a press briefing Friday at President’s office. Earlier today, Bulgarian President Rumen Radev handed over the mandate for formation of a government to There Is Such a People (TISP). The party’s prime minister designate is MP Plamen Nikolov, BTA news agency reported. Commenting on the resolution establishing the state’s position in the negotiations with Bulgaria, Pendarovski said it does no harm, it instead defines the national position and isn’t offensive at all, unlike the Bulgarian Parliament resolution. On Thursday, North Macedonia’s Parliament adopted a resolution establishing national positions in the context of blockades in the EU integration process, which was filed by the opposition party VMRO-DPMNE. 96 MPs voted for the document with 95 voting in favor and one in abstention. Earlier, the MPs passed an amendment, filed by a group of MPs, on including the constitutional name of the Republic of North Macedonia into the resolution. Prime Minister Zoran Zaev said Thursday that talks with Bulgaria aimed at finding solution to open issues and lift the EU integration veto will resume as soon as Bulgaria forms a government after the July 11 early elections.
