Murtezani – Dir: North Macedonia to share EU integration experience with Ukraine

Skopje, 31 July 2024 (MIA) – Minister of European Affairs Orhan Murtezani met Wednesday with the Ukrainian Ambassador Larysa Dir.
During the discussion, Minister Murtezani expressed strong support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity in light of the ongoing Russian military aggression. He also highlighted the country's complete alignment with the European Union's common foreign and security policy.
Moreover, Murtezani commended the EU’s decision to grant Ukraine candidate status for EU membership, the Ministry of European Affairs said in a press release.
The interlocutors expressed hope for successful progress for both countries on the path to EU integration. Minister Murtezani emphasized North Macedonia's readiness to share its experiences regarding accession negotiations and the screening process, aligning legislation with EU law, preparing a national version of the EU Acquis, coordinating IPA funds, and other related areas.
“The meeting included discussions on potential cooperation through a Memorandum of Cooperation, proposed by North Macedonia, focusing on sharing experiences and best practices related to EU integration. Dir and Murtezani reaffirmed the strong bilateral relationship, highlighting ways to bolster political dialogue, economic relations, and investment opportunities given the circumstances in Ukraine,” according to the Ministry's press release.
