Mucunski: Western Balkans must remain a strong focus for NATO and EU

Skopje, 3 December 2025 (MIA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Timcho Mucunski participated Wednesday in a meeting of NATO foreign ministers held at the alliance’s HQ in Brussels.

In a press release, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade said the ministers at the meeting discussed the implementation of decisions adopted at the Summit in The Hague, strengthening collective defense, and responding to modern security challenges.

According to the Ministry, in his address, Minister Mucunski stressed the importance of a long-term and strategic approach by NATO, as well as the need for unity among allies in the direction of sustainable political will, fair burden-sharing, and collective commitment. He also pointed out the necessity of a joint approach to achieving a long-term and mutually acceptable peace solution through the constructive diplomatic process initiated by the United States and Ukraine, with the support of partners.

“The Minister noted that the Western Balkans should remain a strong focus for NATO and EU, with such a coordinated and strategic engagement contributing to preserving peace, stability, and security in the region, as well as supporting the full integration of the countries of the region into European and Euro-Atlantic structures,” the Ministry said.
