Skopje, 7 July 2025 (MIA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Timcho Mucunski met with Dutch Foreign Minister Caspar Veldkamp in The Hague on Monday. Talks focused on promoting bilateral relations, the Netherlands’ support for the country's EU integration path, as well as current regional and global challenges. 

At the meeting held as part of Mucunski's working visit to the Netherlands, the Macedonian FM extended gratitude for "the principled and ongoing Dutch support, as well as the Netherlands' significant contribution as one of the largest bilateral donors in key areas for the country".  

"The Minister highlighted the Government's firm commitment to achieving reform priorities and full alignment with the EU's Common Foreign and Security Policy. Discussions also highlighted the importance of NATO partnership, with both sides agreeing on the strategic importance of stability in the Western Balkans, and on the messages sent at the recent Alliance's Summit in The Hague. In that regard, the country's significant contribution to stability in the region and beyond was also highlighted, with a particular emphasis on the migration crisis," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade said in a press release. 

Participants in the meeting explored opportunities to expand economic cooperation, with a focus on increasing trade and Dutch investments.

"Minister Veldkamp highlighted the strong friendship between the two countries and the commitment to European reforms, expressing hope to see Macedonia as part of the European family as soon as possible. He stressed that the Netherlands remains a strong supporter of EU enlargement, highlighting the principle of progress based on concrete results," reads the press release.  

As part of the working visit to The Hague, FM Mucunski and Free Zones director Goce Dimovski presented at the Netherlands Enterprise Agency investment opportunities to Dutch businesspeople interested in investing in the country.
