Mucunski takes part in regular meeting of NATO foreign ministers

Skopje, 3 December 2024 (MIA) - At the invitation of NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Timcho Mucunski, participated in the regular meeting of NATO foreign ministers, which was held in Brussels, at the headquarters of the NATO Alliance.

"As part of the session, also attended by King Abdullah II of Jordan, Minister Mucunski, on behalf of our country and the countries in the region, Albania, Croatia and Montenegro, conveyed the views on the importance that the Alliance attaches to this important region for NATO, especially to Jordan as a close partner of the Alliance," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade said in a press release. 

Minister Mucunski stressed the need for closer cooperation in dealing with common challenges and threats, including terrorism and maintaining stability in the region. He highlighted the importance of opening a NATO Liaison Office in Amman, which will give new impetus to relations between NATO and Jordan, as well as additional value for the development of partnership relations with the countries of the southern neighbourhood.

Mucunski, adds the press release, also addressed the NATO-Ukraine Council, which was attended by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha and the new EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, Kaja Kallas.

In his address, Mucunski stressed the importance of continuing the support that the countries, individually and jointly within the Alliance, provide to Ukraine.

Minister Mucunski, the press release reads, highlighted the country's unwavering commitment for overall support to Ukraine in its struggle to ensure peace, independence, territorial integrity and sovereignty. In addition, he pointed to the need to realize Ukraine's reform efforts, through implementation of the outlined priorities that will enable full interoperability with NATO member states, towards further Euro-Atlantic integration of the country.
