Skopje, 25 September 2024 (MIA) - On the sidelines of the 79th United Nations General Assembly in New York, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Timcho Mucunski held separate meetings with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania, Gabrielius Landsbergis, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates of the Kingdom of Morocco, Nasser Bourita.

The focus of both meetings, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, was further enhancement of bilateral cooperation, with a special emphasis on strengthening economic relations between the two countries.

At the meeting with the Lithuanian FM, satisfaction was voiced with the development of bilateral relations fostered by the countries over the past three decades.

Both sides, according to the Ministry, voiced readiness to further promote mutual friendship and partner relations by continuing the intensive political dialogue on all levels.

“Minister Mucunski expressed gratitude for the continued and sincere support provided by Lithuania for Macedonia’s Euro-integration efforts, stressing that the country is fully prepared to launch negotiations for EU membership. He welcomed Lithuania's decision to open an office in Skopje, as an additional strong confirmation of the close and friendly bilateral relations and the commitments for their further promotion,” the Ministry said in a press release.

Minister Landsbergis noted that Lithuania will continue to be a strong supporter of the country’s Euro-integrations in the coming period.

At the meeting with the Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, the ministers emphasized the positive development of the relations between the two countries both on a bilateral and a multilateral level. In that context, opinions were exchanged over ongoing international issues, as well as regional topics, including the foreign policy priorities and developments in the immediate surrounding of both countries.
